Mini Handbag Trend

For years I've used very large handbags to fit everything I needed into them but lately smaller handbags are becoming really popular and I can see why. There are definitely days when all you need is your purse and phone and just need something small to hold your essentials.

I've been searching for a few weeks now for the ideal one and I've found that in this one here from Next. It doesn't have a shoulder strap but it's so small and light it really doesn't need it, making it perfect for hooking on your elbow. I was really attracted to this one's sleek design and that it really does look like a mini version of a big bag I would own.

I love that this one has multiple compartments too. It's got two zipped compartments at the top and a third zipped compartment in the middle. Compartmentalising your items can make things so much easier to find them and this design looks really chic. I'll definitely be using this a lot at weekends and trips to town on my days off!

Do you prefer large handbags or mini ones?

As featured in my AW'14 Trend Report (HERE), capes, ponchos and cocoon coats are this season's hot buy! From the catwalk, to the celebrities, to the high-street, they're taking over our wardrobes fast and it's understandable why. This chic take on the ultimate classic trend is a cosy alternative to the old winter coat.

At first I was a little sceptical at just how warm it might keep me but I was very pleasantly surprised to find that capes, particularly with fur like mine pictured here, keep you very warm! You probably wouldn't even need a cardigan on underneath.

My particular favourite from this trend is the blanket wrap (with fur preferably too like mine!) like Burberry's as seen on celebrities like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, they definitely look the most cosy and warm for these harsh winter months ahead and are almost like walking around wrapped in your duvet.

I bought mine off another blogger on Depop (search @sweetheartfashion on your app to find my items for sale) and it doesn't have a label on so I don't know what brand it is or where it's from but it looks so lush and warm, I'll definitely be wearing it a lot this autumn and winter!

Here's some of my favourites from the high-street and the catwalk, I think my next purchase will have to be Miss Selfridge's burgundy cape, it looks amazing. Will you save or splurge on yours?

Dream Day Style Challenge with Lover.ly

All girls dream about their future wedding day and I am no exception! I love doodling dress designs, looking through wedding magazines/websites and daydreaming of my big day, I even worked in a bridal boutique! At my age and being with my boyfriend 3 years now, it's all becoming far more real and these dreams are finally becoming a bit more of a reality; so when I was asked to join in Lover.ly's Style Challenge, I couldn't resist!

I've always dreamed of a huge white wedding in a church because I'm very religious but my boyfriend isn't, he'd love an intimate wedding on a beach somewhere tropical, which I must admit does sound amazing too. So this is dedicated to him, I've spent my whole life designing for a church so I've put together a fabulous beach affair outfit.

Instead of a big, traditional white dress, I would wanted one that was sleek and very long. It would have to be strapless (by boyfriend loves my shoulders ;)!), with a sweetheart neckline to give me more shape as I'm so flat chested and flowing fabric so it can dance gracefully in the wind. Most of all it must appear sleek and simple but have intimate, delicate detail such as lace or jewels.

From Love.ly's site, I found this gorgeous dress, Jasmine from Monique Lhuillier, which I really think fitted my ideal requirements. I adore the sweetheart sheath and delicate beading overlay! The silk white detachable embellished tulle watteau train adds dreamy extra volume without losing the sleek silhouette. I would be ordering a fitting in this dress in a heart beat if I was engaged already. It's truly a fairy tale dress.

I coupled this with a delicate vintage pearl bracelet and necklace because I wouldn't want the the jewellery to detract from the dress, as well as ornately decorated pearl drop earrings and (of course!) a huge diamond ring. Being on a beach, heels probably wouldn't be the best idea, but I thought these delicate feet decorations were a fabulous alternative. Soft flowers on lace wrapped around your feet make a comfortable and gorgeous accessory...just make sure there are no jewels otherwise this will catch on the dress. I would also have a small pearly bouquet of flowers with white shells,  not too big or brightly coloured to be distracting from the dress. Finally, for my hair I would wear it down, with possibly a little pinned back each side, in curls or beach waves, with have a garland of flowers like a tiara to hold the vale and have tiny flowers woven in to my hair too.

It really does seem an absolute dream! I must admit, I really do love love.
What's your dream wedding and how would you style your dress?

AW'14 Trend Report

Autumn is now officially with us and with this arrives the wind, rain and winter blues. But, here is my round-up of this season's hottest trends to look forward to and start creating, from the runways and from what's now on the high-street. This September I'll be looking into all these trends in more detail so keep checking back, exciting things to come!

Top Trends from the Runway:

Capes, Wraps, Ponchos and Cocooning Coats
This is definitely my top most anticipated style of the season! I really feel the cold and these styles look so comfy and warm! Gone are the days where your mum dresses you in the thick, colour clashing and itchy poncho your nan's knitted you, these are chic, sheer and on trend. Celebrities, such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, have already been spotted in this cosy style with pieces from the runway and are creating quite a storm. I have two myself and cannot wait to do a style post on them for you this week.

Shaggy Shearlings and Sheepskins
Faux fur is always a winter staple but this year it's more sheepskin and shearlings than just faux fur. This is good news for us that feel the cold! Sheep's coat curls which traps more air and will keep you warmer. This season, bigger is definitely better. Plus it's all about colour too so don't be afraid to go big and go bold with this style.

Folk Tales, Folkloric Bohemian and Winter Florals
This is so dreamy. I'm so glad this style is in, it's so beautiful. Abercrombie and Fitch and Free People have really taken this style on board and their lookbooks are really inspiring. If you have a favourite kimono from summer, it's great to know you can hold on to it and style it a new way.

Top Trends from the High-street:

Totally Adorkable/Preppy Crew
When I first saw this from Topshop I must admit I laughed but it is very on trend this season with a lot more high-street stores than just Topshop. Tophop's calling it 'Totally Adorkable', while River Island's calling it 'Preppy Crew'. It's a more girlie and feminine extension of the now classic 'geek chic' style and it's great to see geeky/nerdy/know-it-all type being considered cool. Quirky, satchels, big glasses and knee-length (librarian style!) skirts are all  in!

Ripped Jeans
These look great to add extra edge to your every-day classic Autumn/Winter look. In black these really complete your black-on-black and monochrome looks, which are as ever on trend this Autumn/Winter. Leggings, jeans, skinny or boyfriend-fit, this trend is taking over the streets and is already being seen everywhere!

Zenista/Winter Pastels
River Island have classed this trend as 'Zenista', Missguided have viewed it as more 60's 'Carnaby Girl' style but overall, it's the pastel trend that's here to stay. Gone are the days of just wearing dark colours for winter, now add a statement piece or whole outfit for a real pop of colour this winter! So crack out your favourite pastel piece from Spring and style it for a whole new look.

I really hope you enjoyed reading my trend report! As mentioned above, I'll be doing separate posts on each of these styles; where to buy the style yourself from the high-street, how I styled the trend and splurge vs. save on key pieces! So keep checking back.

Which is your favourite?
